| | Hi guys
Basically just introducing myself here.
I've been into parkour for about six years now since I saw a pretty classic video on youtube of some kids free running in American malls and rooftops to the theme of Rise Against - Give It All
I still can't do anything I saw in it but I like jumping over rails and gaps whenever there's an opportunity and getting into hard to reach places. I'd love to be able to do wallflips and tricks eventually but I need to get into better shape for that.
I've only been in Aberdeen for about a year so it'd be good to meet up with some people in the Scottish scene to jam with, learn from and train together.

Hey man, welcome!
I also put off training seriously for a few years because I didn't think I was fit enough, but I now wish I'd just got stuck in! Especially when it comes to learning how to land properly - my whole life I've always liked jumping down flights of stairs and over the odd wall, etc, but have tended to do it pretty heavily, so I reckon I haven't been doing my knees any favours all these years! 原帖地址: Aberdeen Parkour [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]
A few of us are heading down to Glasgow this weekend so I don't know how many will be out training in Aberdeen, but we usually meet up on Saturdays between 12 and 1 on top of the St Nicholas Centre if you want to come play sometime

Yeah, I'm not too sure whether I'm landing correctly or not myself yet. I just try to bend my knees as much as possible and palm slap the floor, never tried rolling after a land but I know that's pretty important to learn.
Sounds like nothing is on this week so I'll try and be there within the next weekend or two.

Hi man, welcome to the forums! Great to see even more people getting involved
I've been training for less than 3-4 months and I feel like I've made great advances, even if it's just trying stuff out. You find stuff comes to you naturally. I'll be in aberdeen this saturday I'd imagine, I look forward to meeting you if you can make it =]

Bending knees is good, but don't bend them past 90 degrees if you've got any weight on the leg, or it puts a lot of stress on the knee - I should know, my knee has been slightly fecked for the last month cuz of doing that >.< Important things for landing are landing on the balls of your feet (which is the front just behind the toe, some people don't know that o_0 ), and you'll know you've done a good landing if it's quiet, because that means you've absorbed the impact really well

Hey SikTh welcome to the forum, nice to see youv made the jump to training with others. I cant tell if you mean youv been playing around with vault's and jumps and stuff, or training for true parkour (A-B, efficiency, drilling ect ect) but at Aberdeen Parkour, we tend to think of the flips and trick's as being outside of Parkour or being classed a Freerunning. Most of us don't go out to train to be able to flip, it just tend's to become easier, the longer and stronger your Parkour becomes, like a bi-product. 原帖地址: Aberdeen Parkour [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]
It seems like you might have a good base strength, if your been practising gaps and rails for so long, but like Ali has said you'l need to build your "armour" (muscle) to be able comfortably start learning new techniques and to refine what you already know.
We'l hopefully meet soon and again welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the tips Ali; I land with a but of a thud usually when I'm jumping off of the spiraley - circular steps at the beach so I'll try and work on that.
Never really trained seriously before Flan so I would just say I've been playing around with climbing walls, vaults and jumps using some parkour techniques; but I am more interested in learning the A-B, efficiency of movement style, precision jumps, different vaulting techniques and cat leaps etc., I also agree that flips and flashy stuff should be classified as something different i.e tricking or free running.
Not really sure how to gauge my base strength in a parkour sense. I work out pretty regularly with my own bodyweight doing press ups, pull ups, squats, tricep dips and other things in a circuit fashion. At the moment I'm working on shifting some of the weight I put on over the first year of uni (Too much drinking and I live pretty close to the ashevale, you know how it is), getting my diet in check and adding more cardio into the mix.

Not yet Scott, I would have liked to have gone today but I buggered my ankle 2 days ago by tripping while jogging on the spot in the flat (how fail is that)
Did you guys have a good session?
