| | Flips
I know that flips pretty much are nothing to do with true Parkour as they rarely if ever will help you move from one place to another as efficiently as possible, though I think they must help with balance, general confidence and just giving you a sense of freedom that you can do pretty much anything with your body.
I'm wondering for those of you that can do them, where did you learn? Gymnastics classes, or just learning from others and going for it on some grass or whatever? 原帖地址: Aberdeen Parkour [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]
Now that I'm going to be building up some decent strength in my legs I think I'd like to have done a backflip by say the end of July :P Have watched a few tutorials and it looks surprisingly easy..

It would be so much easier if and when we get a gym.
Crash mats EVERYWHERE
But until then, maybe one day down at the beach we'll be able to get someone to spot for us and help out
This is why I'm looking forward to Balmedie so damn much, today would've been a great day :P

Didn't think of practicing on sand, that's a great idea! I was thinking grass was the best option outside of a gym. 原帖地址: Aberdeen Parkour [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]
I'm really psyched up to try soon but my ankle is still bruised from lightly spraining it doing a vault on Saturday evening, so I probably should just stick to smaller jumps this weekend depending on how it feels. Reckon I'm gonna practice barefoot for a while this Saturday to help get my landing technique worked out |

As a rule I preach that to everyone who is starting.
With regards to flips as Alec said get a spotter. I can't do any flips however thats mainly because I've only really tryed to lean them once and havn't did it since then.
I got rory to spot me at the beach and after a hour or so we were both doing them with very little assistance. If you want back flips get a spotter. Also for general tricking info check out [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]

Actually I decided to go barefoot on your advice in an other thread, I definitely want to get the basics sorted out early on so I'm less likely to hurt myself later!
Yeah I've tried flipping on a trampoline a few times. Never really landed anything properly though and I thought I wouldn't have the height for it off a trampoline, but I think with proper technique I'd be okay.
Kinda glad to hear that you can't do any flips either actually - I was pretty sure you could be good at Parkour without ever doing a flip, but that just confirms it |

i only recently learnd how to front flips but i could do backflips before that. i guess i learned how to do flips on a trampoline then i gained alot of confedince by doing back flips off of hay bails and then progressed to grass and bark, i havnt got the currage to do it on concrete yet. i practise the more dangours things of Parkour/Free running at my schools parkour/free running club that we have and that helped me work on my flips like getting the rotations right and things like that. :P
