Default Nutrition

This section of the forum seems lacking slightly in information for people interested or just starting out in parkour. I know Danno, David, Scott and all the rest of the guys who have been training for a long time have alot of knowlege that new people could benefit from so if you guys have time it would be good to get a couple of threads covering aspects nessesary to parkour. Anyway i thought i would start with nutrition.

Eating right is probably the thing that is least considered by people new to parkour and in some cases traceurs that have been practicing for a long time (myself included untill i rectified my ways) neglect it also. So if you find yourself in one of these categorys then now is the time for change!

There is alot of info on the internet about how to eat so it shouldnt be too hard to change your ways (if it is necessary).

[Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]

This article on the parkour generations site is a solid piece mainly concentrating on the benefits of eating right. It is well worth a read.

To quote the article, " The strains and demands parkour practice places on the body are enormous, and without sufficient amounts of the correct fuel the body will start to break down and you will quickly see decreasing returns on your efforts."

This is an important point, If you are taking your training seriously then eating right is a necessity to maximise gains and as the quote above says, not getting the correct nutrition for your body combined with training hard can actually work backwards and lessen your abilities.

Another interesting read : [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]

Alot of good stuff in that one although please dont think the supplements are a must, although they can be helpful in gaining strength etc they are not completely necessary (not to mention exspensive).

Finally : [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]

Some interesting ideas for meals on this site not to mention the wisdom of Jujimufu.

Just to round off, DRINK WATER ALL THE TIME!!
If you read through those links you will see they all mention the benefits of staying hydrated. Water is the god of hydration.

Thats all for now, I'm sure you guys will find something to add. If anyone has any other useful links then please post them up.

Hope this helps

Jujimufu is THE man!, good stuff rory, if anyone's interested in getting themselves a programme together i have access to software which allows me to produce diet plans for upto a week and can be made to meet your requirements, not only can this software be used to develop a diet to meet an individuals reference nutrient intake and provide them with the correct micro and macronutrients for what they want to acheive, it can also be used to analyse someones current diet by doing a seven day weighed intake. This allows us to see the current levels of nutrient intake in the persons diet and it can be analysed and improved for training, recovery or weightloss etc. I'm currently working on diet plan as part of my nutrition model for a teenager, after this semster is finished i'd like to mess about with diets some more if anyones interested in being a lab rat this would great, this would be a great chance to evaluate your diet and make sure its meeting your needs and requirements. this will give me a chance to hopefully apply my knowledge to an area of my interest and gain more experience using and analysing this sort of data.

Guy's both useful posts.

Rory nailed it : without correct nutrition your seriously limiting your gains.

With regards to making other threads in this section, It would be best if the the newer guys suggested topics they want covered or questions answered. I don't mind writing big posts as long as someone wants the info.

Duncan once you've finished your semester it would be great if you could plug my numbers in and see what it says about my diet. I eat well but don't structure, or log it as I do my training. Nearer the time I'll log a week if your still game for doing it.

I would be up for being a lab rat Duncan. It would be interesting to see what came out of it and I'm sure my diet could be improved.

What Scott said about the newer guys suggesting topics is a great idea. So please don't be afraid to ask. The more information we have on this site the better.

Someone recently pointed me to [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] for healthy snacking. They've got loads of awesome healthy snacks, from flaxseed to dried fruit. You join and receive a minimum of 1 box per week, each box is around 3 and has 4 snack sized portions of semi-random foods. I just got my first box today, it's good stuff and it means I don't have to remember to buy snacks for work (since I'm getting it delivered direct to my work).

They choose stuff for you depending on what rating you've given to different stuff, so you still get variety but only within the stuff you like I've gone for the "all round" nutrition box so today I got stuff like a tub of dried pineapple, tub of brazil nuts with dried cherries and mango, and a tub with linseed/pumpkin/sunflower seeds (they have almost as much protein as chicken and are good omega boosters, good stuff).

If anyone likes the sound of that I can PM them a code to get their first box free and 2nd box half price

EDIT - noticed that you can switch deliveries to fortnightly if you want, and you can put them on hold whenever you want - just fill in the thing that says you're going on holiday. Each little tub you get is good to store for up to a month before you eat it. I'm changing my deliveries to a couple of times a week, this stuff will make for great snackage on longer Parkour sessions

I think if you ordered your first box it might be too late for you to use a code.. but if you use WBK3FH1 you get your first box free
原帖地址: Aberdeen Parkour [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]

I'm getting a couple of boxes a week, I really like the dried fruit stuff especially, you get one or two of your portions a day out of a single little box (I hardly ever eat fruit :s ). A lot of people reckon they're pretty expensive, and it probably is compared to buying big packets of stuff, but I like it for the variety you get, and I dunno any other places for healthy snacks in Aberdeen.. probs should have a look around

Also I would love to be a lab rat. Don't think you will find the average teenage diet on this forum though
